About the role

  • The Driver will work in the fleet management and transport section of The HALO Trust Cambodia, in direct support of The HALO Trust Cambodia programme.
  • The Driver will be managed by the Chief Driver and will provide expertise and support to HQ staff and minefield staff to receive transport schedules, plan transport, drive and transport staff, materials and goods based on transport arrangements to effectively complete the work of The HALO Trust and humanitarian efforts.
  • Main Duties and Responsibilities: Drive small cars, large vehicles, buses and some other vehicles depending on the level of the vehicle obtained.
  • When transporting staff on the road, ensure safety and ensure that staff adhere to the safety principles before leaving and during driving.
  • Perform transportation duties and services with timely delivery and notification of receipt.
  • Prepare a daily inspection checklist for assigned vehicles, including trailers and all equipment, and ensure that the equipment meets the recommended standards.
  • Follow instructions on locations and road maps according to traffic laws and updated documents, and ensure that all documents are copied for use.
  • Inspect vehicles daily, schedule and plan for preventive maintenance on a regular basis.
  • Collect and load demining materials and other materials, verify them accurately, secure them according to load specifications and deliver them according to the assigned work plan.
  • Be responsible for basic vehicle maintenance in accordance with safe work practices, policies and procedures.
  • Inspect all related equipment before starting the journey.
  • Complete and verify paperwork accurately and record travel and fuel in the daily logbook.
  • Keep The HALO Trust vehicles clean and tidy at all times.
  • Inform the supervisor of the validity of driving-related documents for planning renewals.
  • Implementation: Identify, reduce and increase road safety concerning risks and report in a timely manner.
  • Record all travel and fuel usage in the logbook in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all legal documents are renewed in a timely manner and are valid before traveling, such as driving licenses, insurance, and government safety compliance checks.
  • Additional Duties: Be a reserve staff for the regional logistics section to implement inventory and material management.
  • Communicate with other drivers about daily work plan allocation and identify relevant training.
  • Assist the transport section in planning the transportation for vehicle and goods usage appropriately.
  • Be responsible for other tasks assigned or delegated.
