About the role

  • The Field Supervisor supports the Deputy Program Manager and Program Manager in planning, coordinating and supervising APOPO Cambodia's operational activities.
  • The role oversees quality management and demolition activities and helps ensure that operations are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved plans, donor requirements, Cambodian laws and regulations, APOPO policies and Standard Operating Procedures, the International Mine Action Standards and the National Mine Action Standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and monitor operational and demolition activities to achieve approved operational objectives.
  • Supervise field activities and support effective day-to-day operational management.
  • Act on behalf of the Operations Manager when delegated, maintaining continuity of operational oversight and decision-making.
  • Ensure that survey, clearance, quality assurance, quality control and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education activities comply with approved plans, APOPO Standard Operating Procedures, the International Mine Action Standards and the National Mine Action Standards.
  • Monitor operational quality and address identified gaps through appropriate corrective action, follow-up and technical guidance.
  • Maintain and update APOPO's operational geographic information system and reporting systems to support the planning, monitoring and reporting of survey, clearance, quality assurance, quality control and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education activities.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, timely reports in English on technical, operational and relevant administrative matters, as required.
  • Plan and deliver refresher training for national staff on survey, impact assessment, clearance techniques and operational procedures in accordance with applicable standards and APOPO Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop, implement and monitor individual capacity development plans that strengthen the technical and operational competence of national staff.
  • Provide technical and operational support to national authorities in developing, establishing and reviewing National Mine Action Standards, as required.
  • Represent APOPO at relevant meetings, forums and coordination platforms and brief stakeholders on operational activities, as required.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional experience in the mine action sector for 5 years as a minimum.
  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level 3 certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational coordination, demolition, field supervision, quality management and team management within the mine action sector.
  • Sound knowledge of mine action operations, the International Mine Action Standards, the National Mine Action Standards and operational Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Good written and spoken English and Khmer.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to field locations.
