About the role

Design, implement, test, document, and maintain open-source software tools and reproducible bioinformatics pipelines.
Adapt existing tools and flows to the requirements of specific research projects.
Apply good software-engineering practices, including version control, testing, code review, documentation, and reproducible environment management.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the use of software tools and analytical flows in scientific research and infectious-disease surveillance.
Contribute to internal training activities organized by the BAIA Unit, including courses in Linux, programming, bioinformatics, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence.
Participate as a tutor or co-instructor in shops and training activities delivered at IPC or partner institutions.
Prepare technical documentation, tutorials, practical exercises, and other training materials.

Requirements

Education: Master of Science (completed, recent graduates are welcome to apply), in one of the following fields: IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field: with additional requirement: strong affinity and interest for biological and medical sciences and research Biology, Pharmacology, Bioengineering, Infectiology or related field: with additional requirement: basics of Linux command line, basics of computer programming Skills & Competencies Technical Skills: Previous experiences with Linux command line (Bash) Basic knowledge of computer programming or scripting Knowledge or willingness to learn advanced use and programming of R and Python Willingness to learn advanced Bioinformatics techniques and methods Attitudinal Attributes Strong attitudinal affinity to technical and computer programming Attention to detail and organization necessary to work in a scientific research setting Commitment to IPC’s mission in advancing science and public health in Cambodia.
Problem-solving mindset and capability of interpreting complex project requirements.
Good communication skills Ability to work and learn independently Adaptability and flexibility in working within a dynamic, multicultural, and interdisciplinary environment Capability of team play and willingness of effective knowledge sharing in the unit.
