Description

The ISO Technical Officer will be based operational direction from the NRML Manager.
The incumbent will be in charge of the design, preparation, quality assurance, implementation, and documentation of External Quality Assessment (EQA) activities in accordance with applicable laboratory quality requirements and ISO 17043.
Key functions include EQA Panel Design, Preparation, and Production; Quality Control and Laboratory Operations; Documentation, Technical Support, and Corrective Action; and Coordination, Continuous Improvement, and Other Duties.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology, biological sciences, or another relevant scientific field (bachelor's preferred).
Relevant experience in a clinical, medical, or public health laboratory for at least 1 year.
Practical knowledge and experience in laboratory sample preparation, quality control, and laboratory quality standards.
Good written and spoken English.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data analysis.
Strong soft skills including ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, good analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and report-writing skills, and strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.

The National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) has become a semi-autonomous public institute with a broad mandate in public health. The NIPH mandate includes three main functions: 1) It provides public health and leadership training, 2) It serves as the national referral medical laboratory, and 3) It provides technical and scientific research and health policy support. Under Framework agreement 5 (FA5 DGD-ITM 2022-2026), funded by Belgian development cooperation, the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) will establish the Health Policy Observatory, which will be institutionalized as a core function within the Center for Research and Policy Support (CHER).
