The role is accountable for ensuring strong implementation of child safeguarding standards across all Club 54 operations, including recruitment, induction, supervision, and reporting<br />mechanisms.<br /><br />ROLE PURPOSE:<br />About Club 54:<br />The name Club 54 is inspired by Article 54 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which highlights the responsibility of society to ensure children have access to information, opportunity, and support for their development.<br /><br />Club 54 combines a community café, collaborative workspace, and creative and learning environment to create a safe and inspiring place where young people can develop ideas, learn practical skills, and connect with mentors and partners.<br /><br />The Barista prepares beverages and simple food items, provides friendly and efficient customer<br />service, and maintains cleanliness and safety in the café. The role contributes to a child‑friendly, inclusive atmosphere aligned with Club 54’s mission and values.<br /><br />SCOPE OF ROLE:<br /></p><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Reports directly to: Operations Coordinator or Senior Barista / Shift Supervisor</li><li>Staff reporting to this post: None</li><li>Budget responsibilities: Responsible for cash handling during shift and accurate reconciliation at handover.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;"><br />KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:<br /></p><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages following agreed recipes, hygiene, and quality standards.</li><li>Provide welcoming, respectful customer service to all guests, including children, young people, and families.</li><li>Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tables, counters, and equipment; follow cleaning schedules and food‑safety procedures.</li><li>Handle cash and payments accurately when assigned, and follow shift reconciliation procedures.</li><li>Assist colleagues and volunteers as needed to ensure smooth operations, especially during peak hours.</li><li>Participate in required trainings on child safeguarding, customer service, and health and safety, and apply learning in daily work.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Child safeguarding responsibilities<br /></p><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Ensure staff maintain appropriate behaviour and boundaries with children and young people at all times.</li><li>Help maintain safe physical spaces (no hazardous objects accessible to children, safe traffic flow, respectful language and imagery).</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Occasional duties<br /></p><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Club Director consistent with the role and grade.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;"><br />BEHAVIOURS (Values in Practice) <br />Accountability:<br /></p><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modelling Save the Children values.</li><li>holds the team and partners accountable to deliver on their responsibilities
