ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Financial Controller supports the Financial Controller in supervising daily accounting operations, maintaining strict internal controls, and ensuring full local tax and financial compliance across all hotel properties.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Supervise the daily workflow of the finance department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, and General Cashiering.
Assist in preparing timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with CIFRS and USALI hospitality standards.
Conduct deep-dive variance analyses, comparing actual financial performance against budgets across Rooms, F&B outlets, Spa, and Events.
Review and verify all monthly Cambodian tax declarations (VAT, WHT, TOs, Fringe Benefit Tax) prior to submission to ensure 100% compliance.
Partner with the Cost Controller to monitor Food & Beverage margins, track inventory valuations, and minimize operational wastage.
Monitor daily cash positions, coordinate bank reconciliations, and assist in managing working capital and cash flow projections.
Ensure all balance sheet accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and intercompany balances are reconciled and cleaned up monthly.
Serve as the primary operational point of contact for external auditors and local tax authorities during annual financial and tax audits.
Directly manage, train, and build the capacity of the local accounting team to uplift skills and support internal career progression.
Requirements
3 to 5 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, specifically within a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; an ACCA or CPA qualification (completed or ongoing) is highly preferred.
Strong proficiency with hospitality property management systems (PMS), POS software, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
Deep, practical knowledge of Cambodian Tax Laws, corporate compliance, and CIFRS accounting standards.
Professional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Khmer.
