To lead the project in designing, implementing, and optimizing virtualized infrastructures using VMware and Oracle KVM, managing Veeam backup solutions, and ensuring the performance of physical servers, storage, and Exadata environments while exercising strong leadership and technical expertise to address complex infrastructure issues.
Major Areas of Responsibility: Project Leadership: Lead the planning, design, implementation, and optimization of infrastructure projects, with a focus on virtualized environments, backup solutions, and storage systems through consultation with the line manager.
Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution, focusing on timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Drive and monitor key infrastructure projects, such as Virtualization deployments, Exadata implementations, and backup solutions, ensuring they are aligned with business objectives.
Oversee the troubleshooting and resolution of complex project-related challenges, minimizing operational disruptions and maintaining project momentum.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while meeting established quality and performance standards.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and team growth.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and the adoption of new technologies to optimize infrastructure performance.
Virtualization and Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize VMware and Oracle KVM virtualized environments, ensuring scalability, availability, and performance.
Lead the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of physical servers, storage systems, and Exadata infrastructures, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Maintain and update documentation for infrastructure systems, processes, and ongoing project progress, ensuring that documentation is clear, accessible, and up-to-date.
Take a proactive approach to system performance monitoring and optimization across all virtualized and physical infrastructure components.
Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicate project status, risks, and solutions to stakeholders, including senior management, business units, and technical teams, ensuring alignment on project goals and progress.
Provide regular and comprehensive reports on infrastructure health, system performance, and project progress to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., security, applications, compliance) to ensure infrastructure systems meet both functional requirements and security/compliance standards.
Ensure adherence to IT compliance and security standards in line with organizational and industry-specific policies, ensuring infrastructure remains secure and up to date.
Participate in support rotations, providing expert-level support for incident resolution and acting as a subject matter expert for infrastructure-related issues.
Maintain up-to-date IT infrastructure diagrams, reflecting changes in system architecture and ensuring clarity for all relevant teams.
Develop and maintain operational guidelines for the maintenance and support of the virtual infrastructure, ensuring effective ongoing operations and issue resolution.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum 3 to 4 years of proven experience in infrastructure engineering, with a focus on virtualization, server administration, storage management, and backup solutions.
