About the role

Oversee the daily maintenance of all school buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.
Implement and supervise a preventative maintenance program to extend the life of school assets.
Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and major construction projects.
Supervise, train, and schedule custodial and maintenance staff.
Conduct performance reviews and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Manage workflow through a digital ticketing or work-order system.
Ensure the facility complies with all relevant building codes and safety regulations.
Lead the school’s Safety Committee and coordinate emergency drills.
Maintain updated records of inspections, permits, and hazardous material logs.
Assign drivers to daily routes, athletic events, and field trips.
Ensure all school vehicles undergo regular safety inspections and maintenance.
Maintain records of driver certifications and required vehicle inspections.
Monitor the facilities budget and support long-term capital improvement planning.
Order and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and repair materials.
Review and negotiate service contracts for external vendors.

Requirements

Facilities maintenance experience, including supervisory experience for 3 to 5 years.
High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or an Associate’s degree in Facilities Management is preferred.
Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.
Strong communication skills when interacting with teachers, parents, staff, and students.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Comfort using building management software and email systems.
