The agriculture sector plays very crucial roles in supporting economic growth, generating jobs, ensuring food security, and promoting the development of the rural economy as it’s also embedded in the Government’s Rectangular Strategy. To adhere the strategy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries issued a Prakas on Procedures for Formation and Registration of the Agricultural Cooperative Union where CACA was to be established as the supreme organ of agricultural cooperatives. The Cambodia Agricultural Cooperative Alliance (CACA) was established by the Agricultural Cooperative (AC) and the Agricultural Cooperative Union (UAC) across the Kingdom of Cambodia. The CACA’s founding general meeting was convened on 30th-31st December 2019 and the CACA was officially registered with the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries on 23rd January 2020. CACA is the highest body and the legal represent of the ACs/ACUs in the Kingdom of Cambodia, formatted to protect ACs/ACUs rights and interests, to facilitate and provide supporting services to ACs/ACUs so that they can fulfil their mission to develop agriculture sector and socio-economic at community levels which would contribute to the national economic growth of Cambodia.
