About the role

Reporting to the Community Liaison Team Leader (CLTL), the Community Liaison Assistant is responsible for implementing daily community liaison activities at the local level.

  • This role follows a work cycle for MAG's operational team, meaning selected staff will work every day for approximately 20 days of each month, followed by approximately 10 consecutive days off.
  • Any weekend and public holiday work is counted towards Stand Down time.
  • During the work cycle, staff are expected to stay in the field.

Requirements

General Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, authorities, NGOs, and other potential information sources.
  • Act as a focal point for representatives of provinces, districts, communes, and villages in the assigned area.
  • Collect information on hazards from explosions and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the community.
  • Conduct assessments and research of local communities and prepare descriptive reports on the prioritization of mines or UXO.
  • Provide risk education and information about the impacts of mines and UXO to the community.
  • Share information and liaise with technical clearance teams to participate in safe and efficient operations.
  • Gather information related to the socio-economic situation in the community, mine/UXO hazards, and the impact of MAG's activities.
  • Ensure all collected information is accurately recorded according to the reporting format standards.
  • Assist in analyzing and disseminating collected information.
  • Ensure CLTL has full information on community liaison issues and activity progress.
  • Assist in developing and testing new field risk education materials, as well as prioritization and research tools as needed.
  • And other duties reasonably requested by CLTL, CLS, or CLM.

Responsibilities of All Staff:

  • As part of this role, all MAG staff are required to adhere to and implement MAG's standard policies, including policies on personal conduct, protection of vulnerable children and adults, dignity at work, financial crime, gift and hospitality policies, and equal opportunity policies.
